Heavy duty ropeway with high power

A heavy duty material ropeway was built for the construction of the pumped storage plant Obervermuntwerk II in the Austrian Montafon.

During the winter months, when the access road is closed for construction site due to snow, the ropeway with a payload of 20 tons transports the loads over a length of about 2,600 m to the large scale construction site. All the needed construction material, machinery and fuel is transported by the ropeway.

The entire system was designed in cooperation with LCS Cable Cranes GmbH, a partner company of GANTNER, who developed and produced all the components.

The installation is driven by an electro-hydraulic drive system with an output of 800 kW, which works in a circular drive and reaches a line speed of 6 m/s. The loads can be lifted and transported by a crane unit with 100 hp and 20 tons of payload.

In addition to these central elements GANTNER has also developed and produced the towers, skyline supports, rope carriers, tensioning sets and further components that were needed for the ropeway. The entire ropeway is a high-tech system with a video monitoring system along the entire route.

The entire ropeway is a high-tech system, which disposes of a video monitoring system along the entire track. During the winter months the ropeway will enable the entire logistics of the construction site in the Austrian Alps.
